A “gripping” (Entertainment Weekly) mystery about a woman who thinks she’s found the love of her life—until he disappears.

Before Owen Michaels disappears, he smuggles a note to his beloved wife of one year: Protect her. Despite her confusion and fear, Hannah Hall knows exactly to whom the note refers—Owen’s sixteen-year-old daughter, Bailey. Bailey, who lost her mother tragically as a child. Bailey, who wants absolutely nothing to do with her new stepmother.

As Hannah’s increasingly desperate calls to Owen go unanswered, as the FBI arrests Owen’s boss, as a US marshal and federal agents arrive at her Sausalito home unannounced, Hannah quickly realizes her husband isn’t who he said he was. And that Bailey just may hold the key to figuring out Owen’s true identity—and why he really disappeared.

Hannah and Bailey set out to discover the truth. But as they start putting together the pieces of Owen’s past, they soon realize they’re also building a new future—one neither of them could have anticipated.

With its breakneck pacing, dizzying plot twists, and evocative family drama, The Last Thing He Told Me is a riveting mystery, certain to shock you with its final, heartbreaking turn.

  • Amazing

First book I have read in about 5+ years. I am currently over here crying at the ending. I NEED MORE.
  • So Much Potential…

The ending was terrible. The climax was great, but the ending left off like a Netflix series where there should be a next episode, not the end of a book. Disappointing.
  • Refreshing

A story with just the right amount of love, drama, and thrill to keep you wanting more! Puts the priorities of life and love exactly where they should be! Excellent read…
  • Unbelievable

    By IHaveAnEnglishMinor21
I read the book and concluded I hate it. The story makes no sense. Why is this woman who is apparently a common woodshopper playing hardball with US Marshalls and FBI? The author does not include any believeable details about the government agencies to indicate she did any research into their operating procedures. The main character is a complete unbelievable moron. The writing is okay; at least it is digestable. The author also makes characters homosexual for no reason whatsoever. Do not recommend.
  • Promising story but too repetitive and obvious

    By amwgmail2019
The opening was promisingly intriguing, but the way the story is told gets quite annoying… I felt the repetitive descriptions becomes too forced, ie. how much the main character loves her spouse, how confusing the spouse departure is etc. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend the book. Not too happy with Reese’s bookclub recommendation this time :(

I couldn’t put the book down with all its twists & turns, regardless of how many other important things I had to do. You could never guess where the next clue was leading to. Such realistic like-able characters.

Contrived and predictable. Wish I hadn’t wasted the time.
  • A book I simply could not put down!

I wasn't expecting much from this book but this book surprised me and how! From the moment I picked it up, I simply could not put it down without knowing how the story would end. Did I gasp a handful g times? Yes. Did I shed a tear at the very end? Most definitely. If ym are looking for a suspense novel that is a real pageturner, look no further!
