"A feel-good book guaranteed to lift your spirits."—The Washington Post

The dazzling reader-favorite about the choices that go into a life well lived, from the acclaimed author of How To Stop Time and The Comfort Book.

Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better?

In The Midnight Library, Matt Haig's enchanting blockbuster novel, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision. Faced with the possibility of changing her life for a new one, following a different career, undoing old breakups, realizing her dreams of becoming a glaciologist; she must search within herself as she travels through the Midnight Library to decide what is truly fulfilling in life, and what makes it worth living in the first place.

I love reading fiction that has not only a riveting storyline with relatable characters that you really want to meet IRL, but on top of that, the story reminds you of universal truths. Would recommend to anyone, especially those at a fork in the road or those harboring regrets about the choices they’ve made in their life.

This book puts forth a fascinating premise. The main character learns a lot about life in a most unusual way and therefore ,we as the reader learn a lot too.

  • Love vs Hate

I’m an optimist in life and I was bedeviled by Nora’s behavior when she just couldn’t-get over herself and brought unhappiness to those around her. She had so much to be joyful about but her explorations into other Nora lives was the only way she could accept and understand herself. I found some of her understanding & discovery profound and lights turned on for me!

I’m so deeply touched and moved by this amazingly beautiful novel. Never underestimate the importance of small things. It is small only because you think what you look at is small, however if you can really see it, it’s indeed a matter of life and death. It’s about perspective. Your regrets only come from the perspective you have. And in fact you have no idea how it’s going to end at all. You don’t have to know either, you don’t have to understand life, you just have to live it. And as you live, you learn. Great great novel! Love love love!

The book begins and I’m very concerned about Nora and I feel that during most of the book. And I can relate to much ofd this book. The messages are appropriate for any aged reader. Wish I was in my 20s or 30s!
