"A feel-good book guaranteed to lift your spirits."—The Washington Post

The dazzling reader-favorite about the choices that go into a life well lived, from the acclaimed author of How To Stop Time and The Comfort Book.

Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better?

In The Midnight Library, Matt Haig's enchanting blockbuster novel, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision. Faced with the possibility of changing her life for a new one, following a different career, undoing old breakups, realizing her dreams of becoming a glaciologist; she must search within herself as she travels through the Midnight Library to decide what is truly fulfilling in life, and what makes it worth living in the first place.

Review

  • A calmness evolved.

The book begins and I’m very concerned about Nora and I feel that during most of the book. And I can relate to much ofd this book. The messages are appropriate for any aged reader. Wish I was in my 20s or 30s!

  • A pop self-help book in thin disguise.

    By Troutco
A book in which little actually happens, but the opportunity to put in terse little bromides about life and its value keep popping up.
  • A Beautiful Journey

I loved this book… thinking of all the possible outcomes and directions my life could have gone. But, I did wonderful things with my life that I am proud of. And, it’s not over yet!! All the possibilities are endless because the future has not been written yet! Very inspiring book!

A very enjoyable read. Makes you think about life in in terms of how you see it as opposed to what you see. I was going to give it four stars but changed it to five because this book will stay with me. Nora Seed is planted in us all - will we nurture that seed to see it grow? I will.
  • Interesting read

An interesting read. It was challenging to follow the various “lives” of the the main character, Nora. However, The more the story unfolds, you can appreciate the storyline and the message of the book.

  • Hard to read, but in the very best way.

For those of us that have reached a point in our lives where we are deeply questioning it all… this book gives us permission to let go of regrets and reminds us that so much of our life is yet to be written. We are far more powerful and impactful than we give ourselves credit for. The beautiful evolution of Nora’s “knowing” and embracing her one beautiful life was transformative.
